To run a great business and earn maximum profit, digital marketers will always have to adhere the norms stated by Google. While adhering to the norms, there are many misconceptions that are prevalent in terms of Google penalties. Panda and Penguin are not the penalty but algorithms. Algorithms are based on a set of rules and calculation to deliver the desired outcome.

Experts from top SEO company in the USA explains Panda and Penguin update as the set of guidelines that are followed by Google, to analyse the websites that adhere to the norms of quality standards stated by these algorithms. These norms are known as Google Webmaster guidelines.

Apart from these, Google has also employed an army of experts that review and rate the websites that slip from the scrutiny of algorithms but do not adhere to Google norms. These are kind of penalties are named as Manual penalties.

In any of these penalties, the net result obviously decreases in organic traffic. However, algorithmic penalty and manual penalty are quite different from each other. This difference is also noteworthy because the resolution process for these two penalties is absolutely different.

According to the consultants from SEO companies in the USA, manual penalties is the most difficult penalty system. A website receives manual penalty by action report on Google search console. Once the violation is fixed, the webmaster has to explain the origin of the problem as well as the resolution in the “reconsideration request” that has to fill to remove the manual penalty.

In opposite of manual penalty, an algorithmic penalty is a lot easier as webmasters do not need to fill reconsideration form to remove the penalty from the website.

In this post, we will discuss different commonly found manual penalties and measures to resolve the penalty as well.

Let us begin!

1.Cloaking/ Sneaky redirects

Cloaking is the process of showing different pages to users but not to Google. Sneaky redirects send users to different pages from the one shown on Google. Both of these actions are a strong violation of Google webmaster guidelines. The penalty will be either partial matches, affecting a section of the website or site-wide matches that affect the whole website together.

To fix the issue:

1 .Go to Google search console>crawl> fetch as Google. Then fetch pages from the affected area of your website.

2. Compare the content on a web page with the content fetched from Google.

3. Eliminate all the discrimination between the two to make it similar.

4. Check redirects and remove redirects that send users to an unknown destination, conditionally redirects or otherwise sneaky.

Submit reconsideration request after fixing the problem.

2. Cloaking: first click free violation

This cloaking penalty is levied on the website that shows whole content to Google but allows users only partial access to the content. This is especially done for users coming from Google’s first click free policy. A website that requires the users to log in or subscribe or register to get the access of full content does not comply with the guideline of Google. Such website has penalties in partial matches or in site-wide matches.

To fix the issue:

The content shown to users coming from Google’s service and the content shown on Google should be same. Make sure to do editing process to adhere the rules.

Submit a reconsideration report after fixing the issue.

3. Cloaked Images

Cloaking is also possible in images. For example, images that are

    Obscured by other images

     Different from the image served

Redirect users away from the image.

To fix the issue:

Show the same image to users as shown in Google.

Submit reconsideration report after resolving the issue.

There are many other type of manual penalties that we will discuss in our following post. Stay connected to gather all the information.
