Moreover, most of these recommendations carry value not more than garbage. I think there is no need to mention about the low quality of these articles now. Many amateur web publishers think that even if the link is not so relevant to their web page, it will still add a grace to the reputation of the website which is just not valid. There’s also the point that when these publishers recommend this content, they provide the low-quality sites more credibility than they deserve.

What are the benefits of low-quality recommendations?

This article which is the end point of these references is purely click bait. They are low-quality, normally celebrity blather, sales pitches, and other no value stuff. It works for the recommendation engines as they’re creating money. The publishers hosting the click bait get more traffic so they’re also pleased, and the publishers displaying the related content get paid too. Hence, the only harm caused is to the readers who waste their time in these.

I understand that these kind of links are great for publishers to monetize their content which is otherwise very difficult. But by making excessive use of these kinds of annoying ads, publishers are putting revenue ahead of their user’s experience which is not at all ethical.
