Crawling tools are recommended by many experts to help you assess the performance of your site. They are important as how ill you come to know the various aspects about your site until you do not crawl or track it? Hence the tools like Screaming frog have helped a lot of websites in tracking their progress and generating valuable reports.

But some experts from SEO company California say that there are many reports that are left somewhere in the dark and are not noticed by you. These reports can be easily missed by you but they have a serious capability to affect your SEO.

So just have a look and find out if you are also missing them:

1.Redirect chains:

SEO companies should know that they have to redirect old URLs to new counterparts whenever they design a new website but many forget this thing to do and they check only the initial 301 redirect and forget about the later research. This is a blunder mistake because a 301 can lead to a 200 header response code which is very beneficial for you but it can also lead to a 404, which you no is the error page. It can even lead to an application error.

So, always make sure that while using Screaming frog you check the box for ‘ Always follow redirects’ and then crawl the old URLs. By doing this screaming frog will always follow the redirects and if you want the report then click on the report in the menu section. Be on the safer side and do not make this mistake.

2.Insecure content:

SEO company usa believes that as Google is now forcing all the sites to move to HTTPs hence there are problems occurring related to security even on the safe URLs. You should check several times that the migration is done properly. Many people do not understand this and run into content mismatch problem.

Screaming Frog has a report built in that shows insecure content. You have to, head to the “Reports” and then select “Insecure Content.” The report will list the source of the insecure content. This is a great feature in screaming frog you might not be knowing till now.

3.Canonical errors:

The canonical URL tag is an innovative way to make the search engines understand your URLs.  This can remove duplicate content, and it can combine indexing properties from many URLs. But these canonical tags can also destroy SEO. it can cause SEO problems like canonicalizing an entire site to the home page or pointing rel canonical to pages that 404, redirect to 404s and so on. So, Screaming Frog is again there to help you as it provides many ‘Canonical error reports’ to make you aware of these errors. Here also you have to go to the menu and click on ‘reports’ then go to ‘canonical errors’. You can send this report to the concerned team which can check the problems and find out the solution.
