Universal Search

Universal search launched with an idea to merge all the results from different searches into one. A standard Google search consists of links for different websites. Universal search incorporates a wide variety of information such as websites, news, pictures, maps, blogs, videos, and more to display as search results.

Google search consists a series of localized websites. Some of the features include definition link. This definition link includes dictionary words, the number of results you got on your search and links it to other searches. For words that Google believes are misspelled, it provides a link to search results using its suggested spelling.

Google's cache link in its search results provides a way of retrieving information from websites that have recently gone down. It also provides a way of retrieving data more quickly than by clicking the direct link. This feature is still available, but many users are not aware of this because it is moved to previews of the search results presented next to these.

Universal search tries to break down the walls separating various traditional search properties and then it integrates that enormous amount of info available into simple set of search results. It helps to find the best answer even you are not so familiar with Internet and the exact place or words which resolves the query.

It is very difficult to calculate the exact percentage of total web pages that Google indexes is not known, accurately. Google presents a two-line summary and also a preview of each search result, which includes a link to a stored cached. The ability to specify the number of results is available only if "Instant Search" is not enabled. If "Instant Search" is enabled, only 10 results are displayed, regardless of this setting.

Users can customize the search engine, by setting a default language and can set the number of results shown on each page.
