Many times, bloggers are given free gifts from the brands to post a review about them on their blogs. The gifts are completely an offering to try out; such that if the product is a hit for blogger, the people under his influence will buy the product too. There is no pressure to write only good about the product, so it is not a buying media practice. Anyhow, we are not here to justify the ‘sponsored product reviews’, but there are certain things to be kept in mind before reviewing such a product on your blog. SEO Phoenix suggested us some ways through which bloggers can write unbiased reviews about a product without getting penalized by Google.

Declare that you are reviewing sponsored product

Whether you are expressing an honest opinion or not, at the start of each post, declare that this post is sponsored and the brand gave you free products to put up a review. It is audience's right to know that, otherwise you may be penalized by Google. However, the top of the post is the best space to put the declaration, but you can embed it anywhere in the post.

Google has strict rules about sponsored ads, sponsored posts and native ads which try to fool people by not appearing as sponsored ones. Protecting the ‘right to know’ of every reader, Google has instructed bloggers that the above declaration is a legal requirement or otherwise, the post would be considered as black hat SEO technique to attract visitors and gain links; which brings us to the next point.

rel=”nofollow” the links

If you want your audiences to know more about the product or company, and you decided to put up company’s website URL in the post, add rel=”nofollow” to HTML code. This way Google would not count it  and consider it as a way to earn links and you will steer clear of penalization. Same needed to be done for company’s social media accounts, app, blogs and review pages. The aim of your post is just to tell your readers whether the product is good or bad, so you need not show company a loyalty by linking them without nofollow the links. It is in the best interests of both the brand and blogger to nofollow links which do not come organically.

Create the best content

Many people review products online, but if you are reviewing a sponsored product, it is a general expectation that you will say everything good about the product. Quality is the main concern for Google, any superficial or biased content cannot make a place there. So, it is advised that you provide as much information as possible in the review and create a content which is way better than what is already on the internet.

You need to compel people to believe the authenticity of your content. You need to be convincing and you need to develop something unique, a post which is not just another post on the web. Show people that you are the expert and reading the post is not a time wasted.

St Louis SEO services has guided many businesses to get famous without using black hat SEO tricks. They have also expertise on how bloggers can avoid Google penalties, but if you follow best practices already, no need to fear.
