Relationships matter.

While LinkedIn is a social platform, it is considered to be the most unsocial one among all the social medias. It is more helpful for the students and the job seekers than for the people who are looking for a connection. Maybe this is because SEO services got it all wrong from the start. Maybe it is not used to its fullest potential.

Who can be a better buy to teach us the correct way of using the LinkedIn than the guy himself; the Co-founder Reid Hoffman. So without wasting much time, let us find out what he has to say.
#1. If they are looking for you, you must be discoverable

It all comes to visibility. It is a fact that most of the searches start from the internet. The sooner they find you, the better will be the chances of achieving the goal. If you are hard to find, they will settle for the second best option that is present in front of their eyes. The LinkedIn search is not as robust as the Google search, it cannot predict what the user wants to find. The better you fill out the LinkedIn profile details, more ways you can be found. The search can be based on the qualification, experience, job title, job responsibilities, job hierarchy, the company you are working at, skills or the interests. You can not know how you are being searched but you can make sure that when you are searched, you will be found.
#2. A profile without a goal is pretty much useless

If you think that being social means being selfish and aimless, you are mistaken. We make the relationship because we feel safe and we hate to be alone. Most of the people are not social media to announce the world what they are capable of and what are their interests. The LinkedIn profile also must have a goal. Your profile should speak that goal of yours. It should reflect on the one look what it wants to say, it maybe a profile of a recruiter or a student or a person seeking a job change.

It is not all about writing what you have done, it is more about how you can be of help for the people around you. When someone is searching for you, he must see the value that you may provide. When they come across your profile, they should feel like you are the one they have been looking for.
#3. Doing what others are doing is actually doing nothing

Linkedin has become more like a showcase to put all the work you have done and achievements from the childhood to present time. Everybody is putting as many personal details as they can on the profile. That is not bad, in fact, more details mean better recognition but at what expense? You are not doing anything different. The profile details matter but at the end, the searchers want a person to contact and not the professional robot. Add a personality, a humanism so that they may approach you without getting intimidated. Do not overdo with adding gravity to your profile. Be truthful and be genuine.
#4. What they say about you matters more than what you say about yourselves

Trust is the new currency of the internet. You  must have heard it and believe it too. As a user, you always buy thing after reading the online reviews. Hiring is more crucial than buying a product. As such, the recruiters or the clients will always want to know what other people say about you. They want the recommendations and testimonials. The top 10 SEO Company says that the LinkedIn profile needs a real name so, the likelihood of the fake social proof is negligible.

What other clients, colleagues, and friends say about you add the credibility to the profile and you would surely want to leverage that.
